365 days of with or without is a real life experiment where for a one whole year, I do not buy anything. No matter how great the temptation, there can not be and shall not be any shopping. The only things that I can buy are food, basic consumables (toiletries such as soap and shampoo and cream), and material needed to make art.
The experiment is mainly an attempt to understand the position of wants and desires for ‘goods’ in life in relation to their actual function. Why do we need to shop and to which extent does the shopping rule our life? Is consumerism a cultural revolution or simply revolting? Is the concept of need and luxury all that subjective as we make it out to be? Why do we want to ‘own’ things? And lastly, why everything has to be present in such excess?
